ONGOING
~ "DOESN'T COST THE EARTH" Dinner menu launch ~
Friday and Saturday evenings from 6pm

“Every day online and in the papers we read about tough economic times” says Barry Veith of the Penny School. “Eating out
however should still be an option because, even in tough times, it doesn’t cost the earth to eat quality food in a beautiful setting.”

Building on their already established reputation for quality food, the Penny School has introduced a new menu on
Friday and Saturday evenings, with all main courses to cost $16.

The menu will include the very popular Penny School hot chilli con carne and Vietnamese chicken dishes as well as a number of
new meals such as local Bullboar Maxi burger, Thai fish cakes and curry of the day. There will, of course, be vegetarian and
gluten-free options also. “We want people to be able to come together for a meal and share good times for little more than it
costs to eat in... and without the preparation and clean up” says Barry.

The environment will be casual and people have the option of booking a private table or you might like to experience shared table communal dining. A range of quality art on the walls will complete this beautiful and unique setting.

Take advantage of the fabulous spring evenings and come along for some twilight Petanque (boules supplied) and
Happy Hour from 5pm. Dinner is from 6pm and bookings are advisable on 5475 1911.

FEBRUARY
~ Phil Edgeley ~
 Sunday 5 February from 4.30pm

Multi-instrumentalist, singer songerwriter Phil Edgeley will perform at the Penny School in Maldon on
Sunday 5th February from 4.30pm as part of his national tour.

Direct from the UK, Edgeley now calls Australia home with a very individual style in the Blues, Folk n Roots scene. Drawing on experiences from a lifetime or two he has lived even before he came to the music scene, his approach results in songs that are direct, yet somehow, still soulful and sensitive. With his trademark Churchill Acoustic, Tim Kill Weissenborn and National Steel guitars combined with open-tunings, fingerstyle and slide, his live performance is full of dynamics and intensity in both a lyrical and sonic sense. The resulting sound is a fusion of transatlantic, traditional and world styles with songs telling of the joys and pains of what life brings and takes away.

Phil's continued rise in the Australian Music scene has seen him rub shoulders with many local and international artists such as Eugene Hideaway-Bridges, Ash Grunwald, Ian Moss, Tex Perkins, Jeff Lang, Backsliders, Bondi Cigars
and Glen Terry just to name a few.

Tickets to this one-off performance cost $10 and are only available at the door.

~ Tracey Roberts ~
 Sunday 26 February from 2pm

Come along and experience this performance by singer/songwriter TRACEY ROBERTS on the Penny School Grand Piano.

Her vocals are smooth, warm and eloquent, a big voice ranging from full-on blasts to a delicate whisper - coupled with her
melodic songs and comical anecdotes, her theatrical performances are delivered with a passion and energy that totally
captivates her listeners.

With nearly 20 years of musical experience and touring internationally, she has recorded 8 CDs, including the latest album just released in January 2012 titled Shades of Blue. Tracey has done TV appearances and a multitude of radio interviews, and performs regularly at concerts and festivals as well as private and corporate events. Her ability to improvise and easily harmonise and accompany other singers and musicians (either spontaneously or with rehearsal) is also exceptional and she often performs in various collaborations with other artists in both live and recording contexts.

Some of the career highlights inlcude doing the support for Arlo Guthrie's Australian Tour in the early 80s at The Dallas Brooks Hall, performing at the Anton Philipzaal in The Netherlands in 1994, the cabaret shows and piano bars in the Sheraton hotels in Delhi and AGRA in India in 1988, the Grand Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden in 1991 and in front of 15,000 people at the Monash Carols by Candlelight a few years ago (...oh yes, and a fancy dress NYE bash at a nudist colony on the Murray river near Echuca! )

Relax and enjoy this performance, including a number of songs from the new CD, in the intimate Penny School environment
and sip on fabulous wine, fairtrade organic coffee or have a bite to eat.
Lunch patrons receive preferred performance seating. For bookings phone 5475 1911.
